What's going on
One morning I let the dogs out and the neighbors dogs are in my yard fighting with my dogs. I put a couple of mine inside and chased the neighbors dogs home. My Charlie boy had his nose sliced open.
Another day I had to go to the doctor. Hmmm 12/19
So I get home and Ilona tells me that Todd came over banged on the front door and threatened to shoot my dogs if they came over the fence again. So I guess now the war is on.
Later that afternoon an Animal Control officer came to the house and said that Todd had filed a complaint. So I showed her the area of the yard where the dogs are all jumping the fence. I showed her Charlie's nose.
She gave me some forms to fill out. Which I did and mailed back. So far nothing has happened since.
The only time they are not on lead is if I'm outside walking them around or giving them some play time.
Todd's dogs are back to barking all the day and night. I really don't like those Aussie dogs. They make way too much noise. And if I walk out to the fence they charge it.
Next time one of Todd's dogs bites me, I shall be more than happy to press charges. I did not the first time even after having to go to hospital for stiches.
Well today is my birthday. I'm now 53 I spent four hours outside today splitting and cutting firewood. Filled two barrels with wood, normally that would be enough to last a couple of weeks. But with both of us at home and not working and the central heat not working we are using up the wood fast.
Oh well, at least I'm getting exercise chopping the wood.
The dog's are likeing it. Having us at home. It means they get brushed much more often. And trimmed.

I have 5 books on diabetes sitting on my desk.
1 book about strokes
Low-Fat, Low carb no Fructose, no sugar, glycemic index, blood glucose levels. Acid levels, pills. Pain killers..
Spots on my breast exam x-rays.
Bills coming due.
What is more important - Pay the bills or buy groceries and pills.
So I take care of Ilona and go work in the yard. How in the hell am I supposed to get a new job?

Bye Bye Coco
I stopped at the rehab hospital to see if Ilona wanted to say goodbye. She was not able to do that.
When I got to the vet the tech came out to the truck to get coco. Normally coco would not have allowed a stranger to touch her. She just barely opened her eyes.
I hugged her tight then handed her over. Bye Bye Coco.
I still screw up at least once a day and call her when I'm calling the other dogs. I still expect to see her every time I walk outside.
ON another note. Charlie is not allowed to sleep in the house anymore. I think he has a problem with the house being to warm. Either that or her just does not get it. He keeps making a mess on the floor. If any of the other dogs need to go in the middle of the night they come and wake me. (coco used to bark) Charlie never makes a sound. Maybe I'll try putting him in the kennel at night. Then he might get the idea.

Nov 18 Update
1st Ilona had a stroke on Nov 2nd. She spent two days in ICU. Then two days in a regular hospital room. Then she got moved to HealthSouth Rehab hospital. She is getting better and stronger every day. She should be with over 3 hours of rehab per day. The GREAT NEWS is she gets to come home FRIDAY the 21st. I will make the best of being a caretaker and therapist!!!! It is my understanding that I will be taking her back to Rehab several times a week for awhile..
2nd. If you watch the slideshow on the right you have seen all my dogs. Well the little black one with a white patch laying under the chair is going to be put to sleep sometime tomorrow. Little Coco when able to walk wanders in circles and runs into things. She falls down the stairs and cannot get back up. Once she gets cold she cannot walk at all. She now has to sleep in a kennel at night - she cannot control her bladder or bowels and to top it all off she is having convulsions. Bye Bye Coco.. you will be missed.

Dog's Love Papercrete
On the mixing note. It seems my little sammie has run out of steam. She has no power. She runs. Barely. Just no pulling power. So I'm just using her at the moment to wonder around the yard to pick things up and put them away.
I'm also moving the carpet around trying to smooth out some areas. I'd like to papercrete all of the area between the house and the shed. I can see now from the last couple of days of working it that it will take awhile.
The other thing I want to do is build a little 10' dome from papercrete. That should be fun. Hmmm a bamboo frame?

Cows are OUT
A new building project. I think I shall build me a little 10' dome. Papercrete floor. then Bamboo frame work then screen wire and then papercrete walls and ceiling. Wonder how long it will take.
Quite awhile I should think. The sammy battery is dead. I have no way to get to town to replace it today.
I tried to start the Trail 90 yesterday. Filled it with oil then went to add the gas. I guess one of the lines has gone bad. Lost about a quart of gas. Caught most of it in my butt can. Could thing I did not have a lit cigarette in their.
Today I need to move the bike out of the shed. I left all the windows open yesterday. Hopefully no gas fumes left. I should think it will take awhile for the gas on the wood floor to go away?

Articles to Write
I really hate it when I am DEPRESSED!
I don't get any work done. And I have a long list of jobs around the property that need doing.
I have bills to pay.
I have ads to send out.
I need to write new articles.
"Cleaning the Dogs ears"
"Trimming paws"
"How to cut down a tree and not get killed in the process"
"Rebuild that old bike"
"What to do with Doggie Poo"
Instead I think I'll go outside and work on my hole.
Yes I'm digging a hole.
And burning the tumble weeds
At least my mate will be home tomorrow to give me direction.
Oh and why am I so depressed?
1. See Ouch below.
2. My mate wrecked her little truck. It's now in the shop being repaired. How much do you want to bet that it will cost a lot more than my deductible to get it back? The body shop has already called me. The fan clutch is bad and the airbag sensor is missing.
Well what do they expect she rear ended someone.
3. That someone is sueing!
So I want to know how someone driving an SUV with a headrest gets whiplash when they are hit at less than 25mph?
4. The VA want's me to get an MRI and Xrays on my back and legs, again. Then I have to go in for some blood workups. I hate needles.
5. No ENERGY DRINKS.....

Ouch
Well it was my employers will that I no longer work for the company. Guess what in this state they do not have to pay you earned vacation time. I had over 120hours of earned time.
Golden Gaming Inc the Owners of PT Pubs SUCKS. Typical Corporate ASSES with no honor at all. (IMHO)
I also have not seen my last check, what's with that. And where is the info about my 401K.
I also have a question. Can you be fired off the clock? I mean I'm the type of person that arrives 1/2 hour early. Since we cannot clock in I sit out in my truck and listen to audio.
On the night I go fired by supervisor "JOE" comes out orders me inside. Tells me I cannot clock in because he is going to fire me and I have paperwork to sign..
Now what they fired me for I find very hard to believe. Leaving a machine door open? Yeh, right. I go on a location to work on a machine I stick money in the machine to make sure it works before I leave. A gaming machine WILL NOT ACCEPT MONEY or CASH OUT if the DOOR is open.. BOGUS BS
Hmmm, do I sound just a tad angry? If a company want's to reduce the work force I have no problem with that. However firing someone so that you do not have to pay them vacation time and to lie about the reason for the firing is just plain wrong.

I saw another lost dog
Hey do you Yuwie?
Well, I'm trying to get ready for a vacation. So for the 1st time in 10 years I have totally emptied my closet. At 0300 when I log off I will be going into the exercise room and trying everything on. What does not fit goes into a box for GOODWILL.
I need to make 3 seperate piles, giveaway, take on vacation, put back in closet. I know I will need some long sleeve blouses on vacation. San Diego is a lot cooler than here.

Dogs are BANNED
They ate my welding gloves.
The dogs are in the dog house. They pulled up the watering lines from the trees.
That's actually ok. We are going to cap the lines and cut down the trees. We will keep the pine trees only. The others drop too many leaves in the pool.
Ilona tried to get the dogs in the wading pool today by force. It was very funny to watch. Maybe the dogs did not think it was hot enough to go wading.
She would pull on the leash and a dog would jump over the pool.
I have been buying the dog food for months. The price going up has been bugging me. Today Ilona brought the food and got a case of sticker shock. She thinks it may be time to get rid of a few dogs.
Ok, So that idea brings up a lot of heavy stuff. The pound is a no kill but full. Not a good idea to just take the dog in-in the middle of the night and tie them to the door. Besides the pound is where they got fixed. They would know who left them.
I could take them to a vet to be put down. That would cost more than 6 months worth of food PER DOG.
I could take them out to the desert and shoot them 1 at a time. Bullets are cheap. Never mind the nightmares I would have for years to come.
I could just blow it off and let Ilona deal with it. That way, we both just mouth off about the cost of food and shots and other wise don't worry about it. I like that idea much better.
I of course need to stop bringing home strays.

Chat?
Hey I'm bored. But it's the same old same old. Some twit says she is new in town and was referred to me by a common friend. Except I don't know any such person. So of course the next thing the twit does is refer me to XXXX site. Time to close the window.
Oh and block that person of course. I know sex is a big seller and living near "sin city" I guess it should not bother me. What can I say. I have a partner. I'm very happy. And watching is just not my thing.

I live in the Desert
Well, I woke up very very hot last Saturday. The AC was blowing hot air. Went out to check the circuit breaker.. The Motor for the unit is dead. Just replaced that motor less than 5 years ago.
So right now all the windows are open and the box fan is in one window. The rest of the fans are as close as I can get them to the windows.
The swamp cooler has been rolled over to the front door. I've managed to get the temp from 88 degrees down to 75.9 at 0154.
So I have been spending the evening reseaching A/C units. Here is what I have found out so far.
1. My house is not zoned. It's way too old
2. My duct work has caved in somewhere.
3. An A/C unit can save UP TO 10% electrical if placed in the shade.
4. A room air conditioner works better if it stays on for long periods of time vs. cycling off and on.
I found a new unit that I think I like designed for a room of 450 square feet. You only need a 3" hole in the wall. The part in the house is advertised as quieter than a fan. Ok. About $595.00
One unit for the living room area. One for the bedroom. Install the part that goes outside UNDER the house in the Old Laundry Room area. Yes I would have to install a trap door in the Laundry room which we have been planning to do anyway.
Then run the provided 27 feet of wiring and cooling pipe to approiate areas.
That sounds a whole let better to me than replacing existing duct work. Getting a new whole house unit and trying to figure out where to put it. And of course having to pay $5000.00 plus dollars.
So if anyone has any experience with "Ductless Split Air Systems" I would like some comments.
Thanks
If it's not one thing it's ....

Goodies and More Goodies
Every time I visit the Blogger tools page I find more goodies to add to the side bar. It's like visiting the toy store.
So I add a couple of new ones. If I like them then they stay. If I don't then they are gone on the next visit.
Anyone know any cool toys or widgets I can add here. And how do I change the pictures that are showing?

Can't Wait
The Suzuki Sammy is running. I wonder if the local H.S. has an autoshop program. I'd like to get the engine/transmission rebuilt. I could buy the kits if the kids could do the work.
Anyway I checked the oil, rear diff, pumped the pedal 100 times and it cranked right over. Let it idle for a bit then hooked it up to the weed puller and drove around the yard a few times.
I seriously need to get a cover for it. The seats are full of sand. Had to remove the seat covers and shake them out.
Time to start making some fibercrete blocks again. I also want to pour some around some fence areas. My dogs think digging is great fun. I still have a little cement in the barrel.
Worked on the pool cover a little this weekend. Ilona is getting frustrated and will give up soon. After her design collapes then I can build one the right way.
What is in My Dogs Food
I lost 90% of my post : My coffee cup slipped and it all went away. Then blogger did an autosave an I don't know how to get it back. I wish I could turn off autosave.
Anyway the article had to do with What's in your dog food. Other dead dogs, cats, road kill, plastic tags, flea collars.
Now think about dead pets for a minute. I take my old dog to the vet to put her down. The vet kills her with a drug. That drug is in the body. Without thinking about it. When the vet asks me if I want them to deal with the body I say yes.
Where does the body go? I will ask next time. And if I do not like the answer I will bring my pet home to bury. Or at least dump her body in the desert and let the coyote have her. But then again that deadly drug.
How many animals going to the rendering plant have poison in them. Or cancer? Not a really pretty picture.

Charlie is Fast
The mouse jumped out. Right on top on Lady. Using her as a spring board the mouse took off. Charlie got it. Charlie wants more.. Darn. Only 1 I had. Guess I'll have to catch more. Or maybe Charlie will get the idea and turn into a mousing dog!
Nothing New
I still need to do some weeding.
I still need to do some welding on my tow mixer.
Have not even made one batch of papercrete this summer.
But hey the shed is really full of paper if I ever get back to it.
Vacation is a hair over 2 months away and I'm starting to get impatient.
Need to get some new duds for the cruise.
The Army Dog
I was driving back to base from town. A car in front of me THREW out a box in the left lane of the Freeway. Out spilled a bunch of puppies. I slammed on the brakes hit the flashers - jumped out of my station wagon and started grabbing pups.
Only 2 survived. I got back in my car but was never able to catch that bastard. If I had been I would have shot him on the spot. What is this the new "put'em in a sack and drown them method"? Just throw them out on the Freeway!
Oh I forgot they were German Shepard pups. 1 gave away and 1 I took home for mom to keep for me until I got done with training. My intention being to take the dog to my permant station.
Did not work out that way.. The dog ended up at a friends Ranch. They raised horses. Someone started hiding in the woods and shooting horses. Happened several times.
Finally and this is just the story that I got. One day a shot rang out. A horse fell. The Shepard took off at a dead run thru the field and into the woods. By the time the people got there it was all over. The shooter was down the shepard took him out. The shepard was also down and died.
One Damn GOOD DOG!
Meanwhile, my boys are being destructive. Tonight they ate/tore up one of the big towels we use at the pool. Last night they tore up a pair of swimming goggles and a pool toy.

The Story of Chris
Now Chris was supposed to belong to all 3 of us girls. But from day 1 he was mine. I fed him, watered him, walked him. Protected him from little kids that wanted to pull on his ears. I trained him and I let him sleep in my room.
Never mind that mom would come in when she got home from work and called him out. When I went to bed he was under my bed every night. He made the nightmares go away. After all how can the monsters get me when Chris was their?
On those days I did not want to go to school I would leave the gate unlocked. He would follow about 1/2 hour later and of course come straight to school and look me up.. The teacher of course would let me go to take him home.
He could run 20 miles or more in a single day while we were out. Me riding my bike - I carried water with us. You could just never tell. We would rest and if he got too tired he would ride on my bike with me.
Chris had a crew cut for most of his life. People always thought he was a puppy. Finally my 2nd year as a HS freshman our new dad decided we would be moving to Florida. Chris had to go to the pound.
My new older brother had a dog in Modesto that died of old age. I think he resented me and Chris. He drove us too the pound and when I found out he was too old to be adopted Gordon refused to drive us home.
I still cry every time I think of this betrayal of my best friend. I have never been able to forgive my brother - stepfather - or mother. The day before yesterday I woke up from a sound sleep crying. For crying out loud it's been over 30 years. I need to get over this.

Our Government Lies
Our government sold us out to "Big Oil", "Big Pharmacy", "Big Farms" and anything else that spends millions in lobbist activity. Then of course their are the "secret" agencies. The special offical government organizations designed to instill fear in the average citizen.
My big problem with the Government and Big Money is the suppression of Life saving information. Energy Production, Food and Health lies. And the sorry ass political candidates that are seeking office purely for personal power and the lining of their pockets with my money.
Did you know that cholesterol will not kill you? Did you know that your own body produces cholesterol? Are you taking drugs to lower your cholesterol? How are you feeling? Getting your liver checked on a regular basis? Cholesterol lowering drugs cause severe liver damage. The liver is what produces your own natural cholesterol. Feeling stupid? Most likely your BRAIN is not getting the cholesterol it needs.
Don't eat eggs? Natures perfect food. And the yolk is the best part. Duck eggs, chicken eggs, any egg. Is a complete natural WHOLE food.
No real butter? IDIOT unpasturized milk contains natural CLA - CLA is sold over the counter as a weight lose aid. Whole milk has all kinds of good stuff in it.
Big Farms have destroyed the small farmer. So in order to get meat and produce you have to go to the grocery store. Instead of buying at the farmers market. Now the farmers market had natural produce and meats.
Salt don't get enough or flush it out buy drinking too much water and you will die. Salt by the way only raises blood pressure in those who are sensitive to it. Just use natural salt - not the chemical laced garbage they sell in the grocery.
Instead we go to the grocery and buy meat laced with chemicals that our bodies are not designed to handle. Then we wonder why we have cancer and allergy problems.
http://www.naturalnews.com/sodium_nitrite.html
Their are thousands of energy technology products out their - have been since the late 1800's but "BIG OIL" "BIG UTILITY" destroyed the evidence. Brought out or scared out the inventors. Every flippin house in the U.S. Should be able to generate it's own power. But no we are "connected" to the grid and pay thru the nose for the privilage of electrical power.
As each house produces it's own power the excess could be fed back to the grid. That would power hospitals, schools, public building etc. But then the utility company's would go broke paying US the citizen for the power we were producing.
More later - have to go read some more books.

Double Scary
When we got home Ilona opened the Freezer for some reason. The light bulb has burned out. And a strange red glow was coming from the lower section. When I bent down to listen I heard it sizzle as drops of water hit something hot.
We unplugged the thing and I went to bed. It was still unplugged when I got up. So I plugged it in. It did NOT burst into flame. As a matter of fact it seems to be running normally.. I think it was in defrost mode. The only reason we saw the red glow WAS because of the bulb being burned out.
Some new carpet is blanketing the yard. Filled in the holes the dogs dug and laid more carpet. Now I need to pick up another load. That is the only thing wrong with having tues, wed, thurs off. I have only two week days to hit the dumpsters.
Fri is usually good and the dumpsters are full. I just leave for work an hour early and check a couple of stores before heading in to work. Mon is bad. All the dumpsters have been emptied over the weekend.
Tues morning is ok.
Yeah I know
Lady the old girl, got a hair cut last week. This week she got a bath/shower. It took an hour. I think I may wash her again tomorrow just to make sure. Or maybe it's time to wash Charlie. Blondie I do not have a problem washing. She is more than willing to jump in the shower with me. She then just waits for me to get out so she can run around the house like a raging little bull.
Oh, speaking of bulls, my neighbor has long horn cattle. They were all mixing it up today. If was kinda fun watching them push each other around.

Latest set of Dog Pics

Meanwhile I will be getting more wire from the petstore and hooking up the dogs for the shock of their lives.
We had fixed all the holes in the fence and the dogs were still getting out. I finally found out what they were doing. I really hope I can get a picture of it. But somehow I doubt it. Blondie waits until I'm inside the house before she gets bad.

Right in the middle of a Post

On the desktop I had 1 forex program where I actually make the trades. Also had Blogspot open and was doing my posting. Not to mention another mail program. I guess it became time for the computer to do maintenance and it was all too much. The poor old thing locked up.
Anyway I was saying that when I got home yesterday morning 3 of the dogs were gone. They were still gone when I went to bed at 1300hrs. Ilona says they came home about 1500hrs. Which is basically why I have such a hard time getting to sleep on my work days.
So when I got home yesterday I started running the wire for the "Petsafe" In-Ground Radio Fence" I ran 1000' of wire. Looks like I need another spool of wire. It will have to wait until Thursday when I take Ilona to the airport.
Running the wire through the BAMBOO was a real blast, I hope I left enough slack for wind movement. The rest was really easy. The truly wonderful thing? The only place I really have to bury the wire is under the driveway. Since it is GRAVEL I will enclose the wire inside an old hose. It turns out you can attach it to existing fence.
Well the desktop seems to have finished it's business So now I can go back and see what my forex accounts are doing. I'm about ready to give up on marketing online. It would seem no one has the money to spend on solar lights right now.
I find it kind of strange that I don't like playing games on any of my computers - games bore me to tears. They waste time - The way gambling on a slot machine does. And you have nothing to show for it.
However I love trading Forex. For some reason I seem to be pretty good at it too. I only lost money once and that was because I forgot to read the screen and reset a button from the default sell to a buy. So I did a sell.
The only thing that ticks me off is using Metatrader 4 I cannot figure out how to change the default line colors. My buy and sell are the same color. I want to change them. If anyone out there knows of a way let me in on the secret.
What else: Projects for this week!
1. Containment fence
2. Continue working on pool cover
3. Start this years batch of papercrete blocks
4. Install new electrical to back porch.

What to do now?
So I guess that means I will have to either keep blondie in the house with me while I'm sleeping or she is going to be a chained up dog.
I tried the chain once and she slipped the collar. The new collar is tighter. I'll try it. If that fails then I will have to try the harness.
I guess that means I'll also have to keep her on a lease at my side. That likes totally sucks. Because that means taking her for a walk to do her business.
Plus the boys will be jealous. They stay at my side automatically when I'm home. Even if mom runs off they stay with me on my day off.

New Motor
Take out the old motor, take out the switch assembly. Unwire the switch, take the cage off the shaft and reverse the procedure to put it all back together. Now for the most vital part. BALANCE. That is why there are shims on the mounting bolts.
Ok I tested it out in the shed and everything worked. The Pump for the water and the blower motor. Now I've got it back in the house and the blower still works but now the pump won't. Guess I'll double check the wiring again.
By the way, that is red paint on the work bench.

The Boys that are not!
Getting them into the truck was a struggle but once in they are good riders. Sitting or laying down in the backseat and staying in place.
Getting them out of the truck once in town was much more difficult. The vet clinic is in town. So their was a lot of road noise. And the city bus stops right in front of the clinic. In at 0800
I waited around at the local park all day. Except for a potty stop at the local gas station and a quick trip to the chicken shack for some lunch.
I read a couple of books - watched my Income Cloner! DVDs' and then did some writing on my notebook until the battery died.
At 1600hrs I picked up the boys. They were very groggy but walked on lease ok. Charlie walked like a drunk. Lifted them up into the truck and they went right to sleep.
Once we got home they both took a walk and took care of business. All the girls were checking them out to make sure they were ok. They both went up to the porch and checked themselves into the kennel.
This morning as I wright this they have both RUN to the fence to bark at the neighbors. So I guess they are feeling ok. I'll give them the painkillers with breakfast.

Instructions for making a cat scratch post. Mines better. If I can find it out in the shed I'll post a picture here. Also a picture of the spot I made for kittie near the kitchen window. If I'm lucky then the cat will be in the picture too. He "tiger" likes to hide.

Mom & Princess
After getting stichs and mom holding on to princess we got introduced and became friends. So if you leave home and then come back for a visit make sure a PERSON is home before you walk in.
So I asked mom how she had house trained Princess. Well at the time mom was not working. So she had a little routine. Dad would get up at 3AM to go to work and he would take the puppy out "to piddle" when she did her thing dad would bring her in put her back in her kennel and he would go to work.
Later when mom got up, she would take princess out of the kennel and they would again go outside "to piddle". Then mom would sit down and play with the pup for a few minutes.
After that mom would put Princess in her basket and mom would have breakfast. Then she would feed Princess. After feeding mom would read at the kitchen table and watch the pup. As soon as she started sniffing mom would open the back door and tell princess to "go outside" and follow her out.
Wonderful. Who among us has the time to sit and watch a puppy all day long looking for the signs that it needs to go? Their are other methods.
When my dogs were pups I fed them in the house. 5 minutes after feeding we would go out until they "piddled". They got the idea pretty fast.
Only now that they are grown do I leave water for them all the time. Only 1 dog is in the house during the day while I'm sleeping and she has only awakened me once with the need to go outside.
So check out the dog training books and video's available below if you will be getting or have a dog that needs training.

American's Feel Quilty?
You can see the article here Click Here!
I actually clicked on the Reprints and Permissions they want $800 to post the article on my website. ARE THEY KIDDING..
Anyway back to the story. Guilty. I'm sorry but not here. I have been recycling since I was a kid. Maybe not in the usual ways.
After all I collect every bit and piece of metal I find. I go out of my way to pick up scrap lumber (sheds or firewood). I go to flooring stores and get old carpet out of the dumpster so that I can carpet my yard (2.5acres of pure sand).
My friends save newspaper and magazines for me to turn in "papercrete". I collect alum cans at every bar I walk into - true only 1 or two per bar. I go into about 12 different bars a night. Then once a year or whenever I have a truck load I take them to the recycler.
Why should I feel quilty when the Government and local utility companies make it so difficult for me to go completely off the Grid. Why can't the utility company "size" my house - install a solar system hooked into the grid and charge me a monthly fee that WILL NOT GO UP. For oh say the next 20 years.
That would be much better than what is happening now. $89 in the winter that jumps to over $300 last summer. I promise that if I can ever afford it. I will put in my own wind/solar system and the power company can go take a hike.
OH and I now they have messed up in a major way. My Electric bill last month was $1.35 the month before that it was over $200.00 I wonder what kind of damage they are going to do to me this month.
Oh, and yes I use energy efficient light bulbs. My outdoor lighting is solar lights ( I sell them too) and I do not use the dryer. Crips I live in the desert. I can hang my clothes on the line.

Book Review
Everyone that is even thinking of getting a dog should read this book.
- Great questions and some decent answers.
- Great Pictures of dogs
- Quick and fun read
- medical section in the rear with a very easy reference chart.
I really did enjoy this book. I don't know if it was in the kids section of the library or not. I picked it up off the browser shelf next to checkout. SF427.D461999
Some of the stuff I don't agree with but then I'm not a vet. Just someone that has had dogs since the day I was born. Yes, my mom had dogs in my bedroom. I used to sleep under the house with them on hot summer days. And yes living in the country with country dogs I got worms more than once. I got treated about as often as the dogs did.
I really wish the people I gave puppies to would read this book. I have one lady that's letting her pup sleep with her. Another guy pretty much ignores his dog, then wonders why it's digging up the backyard. The best one now has 2 dogs, my pup is learning from the older dog. The older dog has a playmate. That couple is very happy with both of there dogs.
Some of my favorite questions
- Why did you choose me as your new dog?
- Why can't I sleep on your bed at night?
- Why can't I go to the bathroom in the house?
- Will I throw up in the car?
- What are you going to feed me?
- Can you catch anything from me?
- What's this metal cage for?
- Why can't I bite you when we play?
- What kind of toys can I have?
- Why does your other dog growl at me?
- Why must I wear a collar and leash?
- What would you feed me if I were sick?
- YUCK do you really have to clean my ears twice a week?
- What fleas?
The chapter on FOOD is interesting.
So is socialization According to the book I've been brushing my dog wrong all my life. I guess the dog does not mind they still come running if I say "Brush".

Well it's done
New articles on "http://myfreepuppies.blogspot.com and http://gbinm.blogspot.com
I got a new gastank for my motorcycle. It does not fit. And the gas valve is on the wrong side. I'm unhappy.
My little Honda Trail 90 is still not working. I think I will take it to the Honda dealer and let them deal with it. I can ride I just know nothing about fixing the thing... Hmmmm new job... Go to work in motorcycle shop and learn something new?
So far this year we've been trimming trees. Putting in new water lines. Ilona has remodeled the old Laundry Room. It is now the pantry. She is scaring me. She want's to pull up the floor and put in a new one. WITH a trap door so she can get under the house easier when a pipe breaks.
I was a nerveous wreck for awhile expecting the fire alarms to go off everytime I go to sleep. She screwed the new cabinets she built to the walls using 2.5 and 3 in screws. I keep expecting an electrical fire. Then she pulled off the wallboard under the panel box. Made me feel much better to know that all the wiring is running UNDER the house then comes up to an outlet. VERIFEID by pulling an outlet in the bedroom. Sure enough it goes down and out.
I still need to do a little welding on my tow mixer before I start making blocks this year. I have an entire garage full of paper.
The laundry is washing - Ilona has the Flu. The dogs are out tearing up the yard. The pool is still covered. I lost the receipt for the swamp cooler. It needs a new motor. Another $300.00 down the drain. RATS - RATS - RATS
I found out my Aunt is 83 WOW. No wonder she does not answer the phone when I call.
Gotta go do my FOREX lessons now.
Till Later

Puppy News
Anyway once I got to the clinic I was the 5th one in line. I tried all the dogs up to the railing and folks were pretty happy with the fact that my dogs were very mellow. As a matter of fact they did excellent. They totally ignored all the yapping, barking, growling, meowing and everything else going on. Once they got their shots I loaded them up in the truck and home we went. Where we picked up....
The BOYS and back to the clinic we went. The boys were not happy about me forcing them into the pickup. I have gone to great lengths to teach them to STAY AWAY from the truck. Now here I am picking them up and throwing them in.. They both laid like rigid boards in the seats not daring to move. When we got to the clinic area I had to coax them step by step. We were doing fine until someone's German Shepard got the idea to give them a hard time. Charlie slipped the colar and ran and DUKE charged the Shepard. Good thing he had a harness one. I was able to pull him back and one of the kids offered to hold him while I got Charlie. Needless to say I will be getting another harness for Charlie.
Well we got in line again. And waited some more. DUKE was shaking so bad I thought his teeth would fall out. It took him a good 15minutes to mellow out. The vet did a quick check and gave them parvo, rabies, DA2P, Corona and Bordetella the boys never felt a thing.. They were both looking at me with biscuit in hand. The vet says they are ready to be fixed... (read - balls have dropped) they have a very special appointment on the 15th of May. Final set of shots and chopped. As of the 19th the boys will be 8 months old.
DUKE it turns out loves to play fetch and is the one to stay at my side all day while I'm in the yard. Once I come inside he goes straight to his kennel and waits.
CHARLIE does not want to chase anything "thank you very much" He is however the 1st alarm to go off if someone drives by. Charlie just want's to be brushed all the time. Hmmmm a vain dog? Anyway the cost for the boys was $60.00 EACH.
Here is an interesting doggie fact. CHOCOLATE contains theobromine. YOU can process theobromine in your liver in about 2 hours. A dog takes at least 18 hours to process the same chemical. COCOA is the most dangerous form of CHOCOLATE for dogs. AND as little as 2 ounces per 2 pounds of body weight can be LETHAL.

Picture taking in Las Vegas
or
A quick Guide to Las Vegas the "Sin City" of the USA
1st off get rid of the idea of sin in Las Vegas, prostitution is illegal in the county. You would as the natives say have to "go over the hump to Pahrump" to visit a legal house. That is not to say that ALL kinds of illegal activity can be found in the city. Which of course is a shame.
Now Las Vegas does offer Strippers, male and female. Lap-dances are also offered as are private strippers and massage folks to your hotel room. A good starting point would be the Olympic Gardens North of Sahara and South of Charleston. Oh yes, speaking of Charleston stay off it, if it it raining. The road floods under the railroad bridge. Please be advised that in a light rain the good citizens of Las Vegas have NO CLUE how to drive. It simply becomes a game of slip and slide. In 2 ton auto's that can be a dangerous and expensive game.
Start off by going to http://earth.google.com and downloading the Google earth program. Once the program is installed start it up. In the fly to box enter Las Vegas, NV. and press the enter key. The strip has a lot of little blue dots. Play with the resulting maps until you get a good idea of the locations you would like to see.
If you like pictures there are many areas around Las Vegas that offer wonderful views of the strip. If you are lucky you can get moonrise behind the scene. And sometimes even catch a moon set if you happen to be in just the right place at the right time. There are programs that you can input the location and then get visuals of moonrise/set times.
Start off on Las Vegas Blvd South. Coming over the hill from Sloan. There are side roads made of gravel that you can follow until you get just the picture you are looking for. These pictures are from about 10 miles out. So you will need a clear dark night for the pictures.
After that you can turn right on Saint Rose Parkway and right again on Veterans. Follow the road up the hill and check the rear view mirror. Or stay on Saint Rose until you come to Eastern. There is a big St. Rose Hospital on the right. Try different streets in that area. Some of the side roads are dark enough and have parking structures where you can park on the roof for an excellent photo op.
Another good area as you are driving into Las Vegas is to take the 215 exit WEST. Then exit on Durango. Turn right. Follow it several miles and near Desert Inn or Spring Mountain you will find a great picture taking area. You can go down Spring Mountain until just before Decatur you will find a Chinese Mall called " " Pull in and go up to the roof at the back.
Go back up Spring Mountain and continue on Durango until you reach Cheyenne turn right again. Near the airport you will see other area's for taking pictures. These will be off road in dirt lots or behind building. Blowing dust can and will have a very negative effect not only on your pictures but your gear.
Now follow Cheyenne to I15 SOUTH the take the 95 downtown exit. Stay on the 95 until you reach the HORIZON RIDGE exit in Henderson. Turn right and turn right again. This road offers MANY different viewing/picture taking areas. If you continue to follow Horizon Ridge you will once again run into eastern where you can turn right to go into town.
I spend a great deal of time planning my routes using Google. You can also get road updates using local TV channels and Yahoo maps. I use these tools before road trips to Arizona and California. Taking pictures can be a blast. Use the best camera you can afford. Make sure you have plenty of batteries and a good tripod.
Now if you want pictures of specific casinos and sites in the Las Vegas Area then do like I do. Use Google Earth. With a building view. That way you can take a virtual cruise up and down the strip. Sit on top of different parking structures and get a general idea of where the best location is for taking pictures. I used to sit on the Boardwalk parking garage and take pictures of the snow on Mt. Charleston.
There is a street called St. Louis it is near the Olympic Garden. If you go East on St. Louis from the Strip you will find a GREAT view of the Stratosphere tower. Park safely and remember these are neighborhood streets. Try not to disturb the residents.
The Las Vegas strip is changing all the time. New construction is always going on. At this time several of the older roads have been renamed to reflect entertainers that made Las Vegas famous. For example industrial rd is now Dean Marten Drive. We also have Frank Sinatra drive running directly behind some of the big name casinos.
Something most folks find very unusual is walking into a 7/11 or other store and seeing gambling going on. Yes almost every small convenience store as well as grocery stores offer gambling. You used to be able to sit in the store. Smoke and gamble they were very busy. Business has dropped off a lot since smoking is now banned. Every bar in town also offers gambling. Some bars are for smokers so no eating is allowed. Some of the bars made partitioned eating areas. Some bars are considered "locals" for example PT's. Some of the local bars do not like tourists, others feel that if your money is good then you must be good.
One thing a lot of people are forgetting these days is tipping. And tipping guides can be found in many places. In general you tip everybody. Especially the person that BRINGS the money to pay your jackpot. One thing route techs hate is someone saying how much they had to put in to get a win. Who cares. Momma raised me to tip. YOU need to tip. How would you like to be the one driving all over town carrying lots of money - you risk being stabbed, shot, hit, all so some joker can run off with the company money. TIP
Shopping Las Vegas offers some world class shopping. Both in the casino's and in the "Outlet Malls" even Primm which boarders California, Nevada on the I15 South of Nevada has some really fine deals. For those with a shopping mentality it is an easy matter to spend an entire day shopping.
The Great Outdoors: Las Vegas is close to Lake Mead and Hoover damn. You can get bus tours from most of the casino hotels to Lake Mead, Hoover Damn and even day trips to the Grand Canyon. There is even a paddle wheel boat on lake mead. I believe it's called Lake Mead tours. On Thursday afternoon they have a Pizza and Wings Cruise for the late lunch crowd.. It's great. When my mate and I went we had the entire boat to ourselves. Free beer, all the wings and pizza we could eat. I even got to pilot the boat.. IT was great. We got to meet the captain. Talk to the bartender and food server and the deck hands. The crew also took pictures of the two of us which is unusual to have the couple in the picture. I loved it. . I do not think we could be that lucky again if we tried. But maybe next summer when out daughter is here with the grand kids for vacation we will take them on the cruise.

Well this is the last blog for the evening. It's 3:55AM time to start working on my taxes again.. GROAN
Escape Artist
Blondie is an escape artist.
If I do not let her come with me for a ride in the truck she is usually gone when I get home. Unhappily she is teaching her bad habits to one of the boys. In the last week we have found 3 places the she actually pulled the staples out of the fence. Once the staples are out she lays down crawls under the stands up to bend the wire up. Her boy "Charlie" follows her out. So far "Duke" has no desire to leave the yard. Even though we did leave the gate open one afternoon for Blondie and Charlie to get back in. After about an hour Duke went out to trail them. Ilona got very upset and jumped in her truck to go find him.. She brought him home.. Now I have to check the batteries on the shock collar and start zapping to teach them to stay away from the fence.
A thought occurs to me. Deer Chasers or whatever they are called. You are supposed to attach them to the bumper of your car and they scare off the deer before they get hit. So that tells me it is a high frequency sound generator. Question is? Is the sound generated from the forward motion of the vehicle or is the device connected to a battery? Guess I'll have to order a set to find out. What is the range on these things. I have a 400' area on the front fence. Hmm off to do a little research.
Chores for tomorrow include. Unloading the truck. Today we went out a disassembled two sheds. The sheet metal will be put on the back fence to keep the dogs apart. Also need to replace two elbow joints on the water lines. And it is WAY past time to start working with the dogs.

Ilona is building a new pantry. Oh what fun. I've covered both the truck and bronco to keep the sun from destroying the interior. Time to fix the broken weld on my tow mixer and make a cement form. I need to block the dogs from "seeing" the neighbors dogs. They have fights THROUGH the fence. Avast found 3 trojans on my notebook. Must have come from an old backup. Got rid of them.
Sold some stuff on the ebay store. When will people get a clue and give me a physical street address.. Jeeezzz I use a dropshipper and they use UPS you gotta give us a street address.

Why I like light sticks
For those that really want to know it means "Search And Rescue team 1" out of Tacoma, WA.
I can think of many things worse than not being prepared for an emergency, but not many.
Now I have been accused of living out of my truck. And it's basically true.
In an emergency anything from a flat tire to being stuck in a blizzard I have the supplies I need. And everything in my emergency kit has been put there from PRACTICAL experience. First off where is a tire stored in a pickup truck? Usually under the truck bed. So do you want to crawl under the truck bed on a dirty road in YOUR dress greens or business suit? I don't.
So in the summer I have a pair of mechanic coverall's in the "magic box". In the winter time it's a snow suit. And a piece of carpet to throw under the bed to catch the tire when I let it down and to allow me to lie on it. I really hate wet, cold slushy "stuff".
I also have a couple of really heavy duty plastic bags that I can put on over my DRESS SHOES. And GLOVES to keep my hands from getting filthy. If you think not then I dare you to go get the spare out of YOUR vehicle and stay clean and neat changing the tire.
Now in my glovebox are 4 light stick's 3 red's and one bright white. If I use them I replace them the same day. And, yes I order them from my own business. http://tinyurl.com/yp9dat
For the sake of clarity here is the procedure (Kristen, pay attention)
1. You have a flat and pull safely off the road. Do not pull into a ditch or soft sand. Try to keep the vehicle level!
2. Set the emergency brake and turn on the emergency flasher's. Put on the overall's. (Some people remove the dress clothes. I don't)
3. Get red light sticks or flares out of the vehicle. If you are on a curve then walk back AROUND the curve to set out the first flare/lightstick (Think about it. How angry/scared did you get the last time you almost hit someone when you came around a corner and almost hit the car/person at the side of the road?)
4. NOW get out a worklight/light stick (bright white) and the tools to change the tire. Unless of course you have the tools to fix a puncture on the spot (plug, glue, canned air).
5. Remove the hub cap and lay it on the ground toward the FRONT of the vehicle. Loosen the lug nuts and remove placing them inside the hub cap.
6. Get out the SPARE. You have a spare right? You have it checked when the tires on the vehicle are rotated RIGHT?
7. Jack up the vehicle. Remove the flat tire and put on the spare. Replace the lug nuts. Do NOT CROSS THREAD them. Wiggle the spare until you know it is seated properly and hand tighten those lug nuts.
8. Lower the vehicle. Check the spare. Tighten the lug nuts.
Ladies - a lot of us have a hard time getting them tight enough. Get a 12V lugnut impact wrench for the job. Makes it really easy to remove and tighten those nuts. Just HANG ON when you use it.
9. Put the hubcap back on or put it with the flat. Put the flat in the back of the vehicle. Put away the jack and other tools.
10. Check your flares/light sticks/emergency markers. Light sticks and emergecy markers go back into the vehicle (They are TRASH - do not leave it laying around)
FLARES present a FIRE HAZARD stay until they go out. Make sure they will not be starting a fire.
I prefer lightsticks and since they are so usefull they are the first items you will find in my store.
http://tinyurl.com/yp9dat
As far as loosening those lug nuts I use a 12V Emergency impact wrench from Harbor Freight tools item number 92349-1VGA they seem to be on sale right now for $19.99 (3-7-2008) normally $29.99 it's a pretty tough tool

Lost & Found Animals
First of all if your pet(s) are outside at all the they need to have on a collar and tag. This is their best ticket home. A collar without a tag is useless in helping your pet find his way home.
Immediately print fliers with a picture and description of your animal. On the flier should be a picture of your animal, a detailed description, general area where the pet was lost, your name, telephone number(s) and "reward offered". The reward offered does not need to be a great amount but might entice children in your area to help look for your lost pet. Place the fliers in as many locations in your area as you can. Don't forget the local veterinarians, convenience stores and grocery stores. You should ask the management permission to place the flier and then have tape with you to actually put the flier up yourself.
Go door to door in your area and either talk to your neighbors or leave your flier. The more people who know your animal is lost; the better. Comb your neighborhood especially in the morning and early evening or at your pet's normal feeding time. For cats kept mostly inside place an article of clothing with your scent along the perimeter of your property to entice your cat back into your yard. Indoor cats are at a huge disadvantage once outside being able to sense their way home.
Visit the animal shelter in your jurisdiction. If your pet was lost in the city of Las Vegas visit the Lied Animal Shelter at 655 N. Mojave Road. In the unincorporated areas of Clark County and in North Las Vegas visit Dewey Animal Shelter at 4800 W. Dewey Drive. In Henderson visit the Henderson Shelter at 390 Athens Avenue. In Boulder City visit the Boulder City Animal Control at 1390 San Felipe Drive. You need to visit the shelter in your jurisdiction every other day. Most shelters are only required to hold an animal for 72 hours.
If you can, visit the shelters in neighboring jurisdictions. Lost animals can travel or be transported to another neighborhood before being picked up and taken to a shelter.
When visiting the shelters you need to not only look at all the animals being held but to also check the books located at each shelter. Shelter books will list animal description of those animals found dead, those animals injured and receiving medical care at a veterinarian and those found animals being held by individuals and organizations.
Call as many animal organizations as you can and give a detailed description of your lost animal along with your name and telephone number. Follow up this telephone call by mailing the organization your flier with your pet's picture. Check the newspaper's lost and found section in the classified ads and if you can afford to do so list your pet in the lost section.
Be persistent and enlist as much help as you can from your family and friends.

Wow
This is CoCo

Yes those are scars on her face. She is a shelter dog we got a few years ago. So far she is missing 1/2 of one ear to a coyote, she has managed to cut her throat open trying to get out That cost over $2000.00 to get fixed. Now she has Arthritis in her hips and a sprained front ankle. At least she will be still for a few days.
Poor Coco
The pups are having nightmares and howl while they are sleeping I think I can thank Misty for that little problem.
Misty the evil bitch jumped Coco a couple of days ago and cut her shoulder. All over a couple of good bones that got left laying around.
And Blondie is still the escape artist. Every time we fix on hole in the fence she makes another one. So now I watch her. I have a little sound device. She does not like it.. So if I see her near the fence I push the button, hopefully she will get the idea that the fence is evil.

That Boy is Gone
The Dewey Animal Shelter has over 40% pit bull mixed dogs. Again what the heck is wrong with people.
Get your dog FIXED ! Yes it cost a lot of money. The last stray that I fixed cost over $200.00 I still have too get her two son's fixed. They are 6 months old this month. I wonder how much that will cost?
Most of the Animal Shelters are now no kill shelters. If you need a dog go get one from a shelter. I never liked the way they used to kill dogs - putting them in a chamber and then inducing a vacumn. To me that is just really cruel. I do however beleive in putting animals to sleep. I've got one dog I'm thinking of taking to the vet and having her put down. She is being a very mean bitch to the younger dogs and now she thinks she can growl and snap at me. Since she is a pit mix I'm afraid she just might loose control. To sleep she goes.

Chopping Wood
So yes I now have lots more wood to cut to stove size and then split. I am stiff and sore all over.
The good thing is Ilona went out and cleaned up the area where I cut and split. I went out and checked it when I woke up. Looks good. Now I can start making a new mess.
I think I'll put some Solar Spot lights out by the wood shed maybe a few solar paving stones so I will not need the flashlight to go out.
Oh, it's raining. Happily for the 1st times in weeks it is not freezing. It's like 40 degrees out. So no ice or snow yet. Thank the Gods!
I have another stray dog. This one looks like a border collie. He will be going to the pound later today. So if anyone wants an BC check out Dewey Animal Shelter in Las Vegas I will try to have him there before noon. He does not appear to have the herding instinct. He is also very gentle with all the other dogs. He must have been in the desert for awhile. He has worms bad. I dewormed him on Tuesday. I would like to kick the asshole that dumped him in the desert.
