Book Review

I finished reading "101 questions your dog would ask" or 'What's bothering your dog and how to solve it's problems' by Helen Dennis VetMB MRCVS

Everyone that is even thinking of getting a dog should read this book.
  1. Great questions and some decent answers.
  2. Great Pictures of dogs
  3. Quick and fun read
  4. medical section in the rear with a very easy reference chart.

I really did enjoy this book. I don't know if it was in the kids section of the library or not. I picked it up off the browser shelf next to checkout. SF427.D461999

Some of the stuff I don't agree with but then I'm not a vet. Just someone that has had dogs since the day I was born. Yes, my mom had dogs in my bedroom. I used to sleep under the house with them on hot summer days. And yes living in the country with country dogs I got worms more than once. I got treated about as often as the dogs did.

I really wish the people I gave puppies to would read this book. I have one lady that's letting her pup sleep with her. Another guy pretty much ignores his dog, then wonders why it's digging up the backyard. The best one now has 2 dogs, my pup is learning from the older dog. The older dog has a playmate. That couple is very happy with both of there dogs.

Some of my favorite questions

  1. Why did you choose me as your new dog?
  2. Why can't I sleep on your bed at night?
  3. Why can't I go to the bathroom in the house?
  4. Will I throw up in the car?
  5. What are you going to feed me?
  6. Can you catch anything from me?
  7. What's this metal cage for?
  8. Why can't I bite you when we play?
  9. What kind of toys can I have?
  10. Why does your other dog growl at me?
  11. Why must I wear a collar and leash?
  12. What would you feed me if I were sick?
  13. YUCK do you really have to clean my ears twice a week?
  14. What fleas?

The chapter on FOOD is interesting.

So is socialization According to the book I've been brushing my dog wrong all my life. I guess the dog does not mind they still come running if I say "Brush".
