Bye Bye Coco

I took coco out of the house (19th or 20th) in the morning and laid her in the sun. She did not wake up. I called the vet. They said bring her in after 3. So at noon I went out and picked up Coco. She was laying out in the sun and still shivering. She never fully woke up. I put her in the truck for the ride to town. She woke up sort of and tried to sit up. Never quite made it.

I stopped at the rehab hospital to see if Ilona wanted to say goodbye. She was not able to do that.

When I got to the vet the tech came out to the truck to get coco. Normally coco would not have allowed a stranger to touch her. She just barely opened her eyes.
I hugged her tight then handed her over. Bye Bye Coco.

I still screw up at least once a day and call her when I'm calling the other dogs. I still expect to see her every time I walk outside.

ON another note. Charlie is not allowed to sleep in the house anymore. I think he has a problem with the house being to warm. Either that or her just does not get it. He keeps making a mess on the floor. If any of the other dogs need to go in the middle of the night they come and wake me. (coco used to bark) Charlie never makes a sound. Maybe I'll try putting him in the kennel at night. Then he might get the idea.

Nov 18 Update

Well a couple of updates.
1st Ilona had a stroke on Nov 2nd. She spent two days in ICU. Then two days in a regular hospital room. Then she got moved to HealthSouth Rehab hospital. She is getting better and stronger every day. She should be with over 3 hours of rehab per day. The GREAT NEWS is she gets to come home FRIDAY the 21st. I will make the best of being a caretaker and therapist!!!! It is my understanding that I will be taking her back to Rehab several times a week for awhile..

2nd. If you watch the slideshow on the right you have seen all my dogs. Well the little black one with a white patch laying under the chair is going to be put to sleep sometime tomorrow. Little Coco when able to walk wanders in circles and runs into things. She falls down the stairs and cannot get back up. Once she gets cold she cannot walk at all. She now has to sleep in a kennel at night - she cannot control her bladder or bowels and to top it all off she is having convulsions. Bye Bye Coco.. you will be missed.

Dog's Love Papercrete

I have been working for 3 day's now on extending my papercrete walkway. The dogs got into last night. I walked out this morning to signs of joyus digging. So I threw as much as I could back into the mixer and made a fresh batch. Poured it out - troweled it and then COVERED it with a sheet of plexiglass. It better not be all chewed up in the morning. And it had to be blondie or mistie since both the boys sleep in the house last night.

On the mixing note. It seems my little sammie has run out of steam. She has no power. She runs. Barely. Just no pulling power. So I'm just using her at the moment to wonder around the yard to pick things up and put them away.

I'm also moving the carpet around trying to smooth out some areas. I'd like to papercrete all of the area between the house and the shed. I can see now from the last couple of days of working it that it will take awhile.

The other thing I want to do is build a little 10' dome from papercrete. That should be fun. Hmmm a bamboo frame?
